Michelle Thew

Michelle is Chief Executive of the BUAV – the world's leading organisation campaigning against animal experiments, and Cruelty Free International – the global campaign to end animal testing for cosmetics.

For over 15 years Michelle has championed the cause of animals in laboratories across the world, speaking on their behalf in both the UK and EU Parliaments, and taking the message to media, regulators and industry representatives from Europe and the USA to Asia.

Michelle spearheaded the decade-long campaign to end cosmetics testing on animals in Europe, and has persuaded high street stores such as Sainsbury's, M&S and Superdrug to go cruelty free by signing up to the Humane Cosmetics Standard (symbolised by the Leaping Bunny).

Michelle is known for her dynamic, passionate, innovative and determined approach to ending animal testing, and is one of the most respected and accomplished individuals in the animal protection movement.

Karin Ridgers - Veggie Vision

Karin Ridgers

Karin is the Director of VeggieVision TV & the internet TV station that addresses the fact that in the UK there are no veggie friendly TV programmes in the UK.

Showing short film clips of cookery, information, experts, celebrities, comedy and now with real people presenters as well as professional presenters in the UK Hollywood, Paris, Hawaii, Thailand and more.  

Karin has taken part in more than 100 radio interviews – all promoting how easy, fun, healthy and kinder it is to lead a veggie way of life and also writes for Vegetarian Living magazine. Karin is working on a series of books at the moment and is thrilled to be a judge on this super BWC competition.

"So many people ask me about cosmetics and if they are cruelty free. We all want to look and feel our best and smearing bits of squashed beetles on our faces to achieve this is just beyond me – luckily we have BWC! I am so looking forward to seeing the wonderful ladies who enter the competition."

Karin Ridgers - Veggie Vision

Heather Suttie

As a presenter and journalist on TV, Radio and both printed and online media, Heather Suttie is one of Scotland's most experienced media professionals.

She has presented & produced television programmes for BBC1, SKY, Channel 4, MTV and STV and has presented & produced Radio shows for Xfm, Beat 106, Capital FM Network Scotland and, most recently, Co-op National In-store Radio. She has also broken two world records, toured America with The Spice Girls and worked with The Prodigy in Moscow, Valencia, Paris, Prague & Berlin and has undertaken a number of voluntary charity ambassador roles carrying out work with Breast Cancer Care Scotland, Action for Children and The Princes Trust.

With a passion for the environment, in 2007 Heather set up her own eco movement Say NO To PLASTIC and has subsequently developed projects with a national newspaper, event manages vintage clothing sales to encourage the reduce, reuse, recycle message and has been recognized by The Scottish Government for her efforts. Her current eco project Ecomunky is under development.

Heather has recently returned from a 6 month stint volunteering at Kind Heart Africa, a School for 100 street children in Tanzania as well as learning Swahili and exploring East Africa. She has just finished filming a campaign for the Scottish Government 'Drop A Glass Size' promoting responsible drinking.

Known by their alter-egos Kizz and Cazz; Claire and Kylie have been taking the world by storm since they released their first youtube video on World Vegan Day (November 1st) – a fresh take on Snoop Dog and David Guettas 'Sweat' – with 'We Wanna Make You Vegan'. With their unique sense of cooool humour and witty lyrics, everything from soya milk, vegan burgers and more serious issues such as heart disease and torture these girls have been breaking the mould and will have you singing along in no time!

A third Video 'Good Vegan' will be released on the 1st of July this year. These are two ladies who know how to live the vegan lifestyle with the most swag – flashy cars, animal costumes and bling whilst also supporting campaigns from the legendary Viva! – Europe's largest vegetarian and vegan campaigning group.

Nicola Alexander

Nicola is the MD and founder of the popular online magazine Daisy Green. She is passionate about fairtrade and has campaigned tirelessly about fairtrade and social welfare issues. Nicola worked as a Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator in a former life and in May 2008 she saw the green light and the concept of Daisy Green Magazine blossomed into reality. In the years since it has grown into one of the most respected online portals for advice on consumer products and a constant presence at the leading fairtrade and green shows.

Nicola says "I am thrilled to be a part of the Beauty Without Cruelty campaign to help find the faces that represent their brilliant cosmetic brand and very excited to help promote the winners and products to the Daisy Green readers."
